One of Malaysia’s favourite compact SUVs, the HR-V Hybrid, has been loaded up with new tech and a new price. Called the Enhanced Honda HR-V Sport Hybrid i-DCD, the vehicle is now priced at RM113,954.82 on-the-road without insurance, albeit without sales tax.
Although not a facelift in the truest sense, the enhanced HR-V does have some of its exterior features updated. New in the HR-V Hybrid are the LED headlights and fog lights in the front and LED guide taillights in the rear. At the same time, chrome door handles put pizzazz on the SUV’s sides.
Inside, the HR-V Hybrid comes equipped with seven-inch display audio that is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In addition, two USB ports are available for convenience. A three-spoke leather steering wheel completes the interior’s enhancement.
The HR-V Sport Hybrid i-DCD is powered by a 1.5-litre DOHC i-VTEC with direct injection. A high power motor, which draws power from a high-power lithium-ion battery, gives the SUV the same kick as a 2.0-litre engine. Transferring power to the wheels is a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that gives the SUV a quick acceleration response.
In terms of safety, the compact SUV comes with six airbags, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Automatic Brake Hold (ABH), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and Rear Seat ISOFIX. You can have the Enhance HR-V Sport Hybrid in Platinum White Pearl, as well as Lunar Silver Metallic and Modern Steel Metallic.

Currently, there are 103,000 HR-Vs on the road since its introduction in 2015. The facelifted HR-V, launched in 2019, added 18 per cent to Honda Malaysia’s overall sales and went on to become the second-best Honda vehicle from January to July 2021. The HR-V dominated the Non-national Compact SUV segment with a 71 per cent market share as of June 2021.
