Aftermarket suspension gurus KW has just released a new coilover suspension for the Porsche 911 (992) with or without the front axle lift system. With its three-way adjustable KW shocks, the KW Variant 4 kit gives the current Porsche 911 an additional plus in driving dynamics combined with sporty rolling comfort, easier handling and better straight-line stability.

On undulating tarmac, the KW Variant 4 coilover suspension, which can be adjusted separately in the low-speed compression stage, high-speed compression stage and low-speed rebound stage, dampens harmoniously and prevents unsteady handling.

Occurring pitch and roll movements of the body structure are significantly reduced. The KW coilover suspension can also be installed in all Porsche 911s of the 992 series with a front-axle lift system, which means that speed bumps or steep garage entrances are no obstacle despite the continuously adjustable lowering of 20 to 35 millimetres.

KW multi-valve technology strikes a balance between ride quality and driving dynamics

The three-way valve technology of the KW coilover Variant 4 is based on current KW racing applications. For example, in Porsche customer sport, KW racing applications are used in the 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport, 911 GT2 RS Clubsport and 911 GT3 R. The adjustable compression damping influences the dipping speed of the damper piston rod to a certain degree.

The compression damping also influences body pitching and rolling movements as well as turn-in behaviour. If the compression damping is increased, the piston rod dips more slowly. This means that the vehicle acts more directly during steering movements. Turn-in behaviour becomes more precise the tighter the compression damping is tuned. If the valves are opened, the compression damping is reduced, and the body dips faster.

Drivers and tuners can separate the low-speed compression stage valve for slow piston rod movements, such as those that occur during steering and chassis rolling movements. Variant 4 can also be tuned for fast damping speeds, such as those that occur during heavy compression due to bumps in the road, you adjust the high-speed compression stage valve.

The adjustable low-speed rebound stage has a direct influence on the operating speed when the piston rod rebounds. It controls how quickly the suspension spring relaxes back to its initial position. In a manner of speaking, the diameters of the rebound valves are opened for a more comfortable ride and closed for a firmer setup.

The parts certificate included in the scope of delivery allows stepless lowering from 20mm to 35mm on the front axle and from 15mm to 35mm on the rear axle. On the Turbo and Turbo-S models, a lowering of between 20mm and 35mm can be set on both axles with the suspension. But the main focus of the KW Variant 4 coilover suspension kit is to improve the ride quality and driving dynamics of the Porsche 911.
