Malaysia has proudly joined six other nations in a monumental test drive of the JAECOO J7 PHEV, a plug-in hybrid vehicle. The ultra-long-range marathon spanned over 1,300km, traveling from Guangzhou to Wuhu, China, without a single recharge. The participating nations included Italy, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and Malaysia.
On 16 October 2024, the multinational team set off from Guangzhou, completing the 13-hour journey through a variety of challenging driving conditions, such as morning rush hour traffic, national highways, and expressways. The JAECOO J7 PHEV boasts an impressive electric-only range of 106km and the best fuel economy in its class, consuming just 5.99 liters per 100km when the battery is depleted.
The highly anticipated JAECOO J7 PHEV, which will be officially launched in Malaysia by the end of the year, shares the same sleek design as its petrol-powered counterpart. However, the PHEV model offers unique features, including a hybrid engine, exceptional range, DC charging capability, and the ability to power external electronic devices like a kettle, projector, or hairdryer, making it ideal for outdoor enthusiasts.
Buyers can expect the JAECOO J7 PHEV to be available in two variants, with prices ranging between RM170,000 and RM180,000. The all-wheel-drive (AWD) model comes with seven driving modes: Economy, Standard, Sport, Sand, Mud, Snow, and Off-Road. Meanwhile, the two-wheel-drive (2WD) version offers three modes: Standard, Sport, and Economy. The PHEV is equipped with an 18.3kW battery and a 60-litre fuel tank, delivering a torque of 525Nm. Additionally, it comes with a Direct Current (DC) Charger capable of supporting up to 40kW.
A preview of the JAECOO J7 PHEV will take place from Wednesday, 23 October to Sunday, 27 October at Sunway Pyramid (LG2 Orange Wing – near the Orange concourse). For more information, visit www.jaecoo.com.my and follow JAECOO Malaysia on social media for the latest updates.
