MG Malaysia has introduced two new vehicles to the lineup – the MG5 and the MG HS SUV. The two petrol-powered vehicles joins the MG4 EV and the MG ZS EVs to offer more diversity in their range. MG has opened the order books for the MG5 and the MG HS SUV.
MG5: THE FASTBACK COUPE PRICED TO GO
The all-new MG5 enters the B-segment market with a sporty fastback coupe design. Tailored for those who dare to stand out, the MG5 is not just about looks – it’s about an elevated driving experience. The MG5 is only available as a single variant with price estimated to be below RM100,000.
With a sleek exterior featuring a distinctive fastback silhouette, ducktail spoiler, aggressive 3D front grille and power sunroof, the MG5 is a head-turner from every angle. Equipped with automatic LED headlights with DRL and 17-inch Tomahawk alloy wheels, it exudes a confident, sporty presence on the road.
Supporting the larger body dimension statement, the MG5 stands at 4,675mm in length, 1,842mm width and 2,680mm wheelbase, making it the longest and widest in the B-sedan segment to-date.
Step inside, and the MG5 continues to impress with its spacious and driver-focused interior. A fully digital 7-inch LCD virtual cockpit, a 10.25-inch floating infotainment system, and a three-spoke leather steering wheel with integrated controls make every drive a connected and comfortable experience.
Under the hood, a 1.5L petrol engine delivers a reliable 114PS and 150Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed iCVT automatic transmission – a powertrain that has undergone a 2.35 million kilometres of durability test, providing assurance and confidence in one’s daily drive.
Safety is paramount, the MG5 is equipped with comprehensive MG PILOT driver assist safety system such as Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Collision Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, along with its standard Electronic Stability Program, Anti-Lock Brake system (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Traction and Cornering Brake controls, and 6 SRS Airbags.
MG5 comes with a comprehensive warranty package, including 5 years with Unlimited Mileage Warranty (whichever comes first) on the vehicle, and 7 years with Unlimited Mileage Warranty (whichever comes first) on the powertrain (engine and transmission).
Five colours will be available namely the Nuclear Yellow, Dynamic Red, Arctic White, Black Pearl and Camden Grey.
MG HS: THE SUV OFFERS PERFORMANCE WITH SHARP DESIGN
The MG HS SUV comes in two variants – Standard and Lux – with an estimated price of below RM130,000 for the Standard and below RM150,000 for the Lux. The MG HS is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine mated to a seven-speed twin clutch transmission. The powertrain delivers 162PS and 250Nm of torque. The Super Sport Mode that enhances the performance of the SUV through increased throttle response, shifts at higher RPM, sturdy and precise steering.
The new MG HS debuts a sharper, more aggressive appearance. At the front, new bi-functional LED headlights, a bold front grille and bumper design create an enhanced look that establishes the HS as MG’s most luxurious SUV. At the rear, a bumper design with dual exhaust outlets, LED taillights complete the contemporary styling, alongside 18-inch diamond cut wheel design and panoramic sunroof.
The MG HS’s impressive amount of space and comfort features high-quality, soft touch materials. First ever Sports Seats for front driver and passenger and 64-theme Ambient Light comes standard with the 12.3-inch virtual cluster display with four display themes. The MG HS also features a 10.1-inch high resolution infotainment display with 360˚ view camera, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, and MG iSMART phone connectivity-one can effortlessly control various functions, Bluetooth key function and turn on the air-conditioning via the user’s mobile device, enhancing both convenience and safety while on the road.
At the back, the MG HS is fitted with Power Tailgate and large cargo capacity between 463L to 1,287L with rear seats folded down.
