In conjunction with the Volkswagen Golf’s 50 years anniversary, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia recently introduced the Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50. An anniversary edition car means the Golf GTI will be decked out with exclusive trim and accessories.
The Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50 comes fully suited with accessories that includes an Oettinger body kit, new rims, black side mirror caps, exclusive Edition 50 emblems, and sporty side decorative films inspired by the signature GTI honeycomb. Finishing touches to the GTI Edition 50’s exterior are “Edition 50” VW Tint, and “50” emblems on both B-pillars that characterises this special edition model.
The Oettinger body kit consists of black front spoiler, black roof spoiler and diffuser that enhance its style and performance and adds a bold touch to the exterior styling of the GTI Edition 50.
Wheels are fitted with 18” ‘Pretoria’ light alloys in high-gloss black finish, “GTI” Dynamic wheel hub caps, and VW Design aluminium valve caps.
The interior of the GTI Edition 50 showcases elements that differentiate it from the standard GTI. Embellishments include a “50” emblem at the centre spoke of the GTI’s multi-function sport steering wheel, “Edition 50” aluminium side scuff plates as well as “Edition 50” front carpet mats.
The GTI Edition 50 is available exclusively in two colour options, Oryx White and Moonstone Grey.
Unchanged is the powertrain, a 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged engine coupled with a 7-speed wet clutch DSG supplies performance to the Edition 50. The GTI’s engine produces 245PS and 370Nm of torque.
Other features worth highlighting are the 10-speaker, 480-watt Harman Kardon premium sound system paired with the 10-inch Discover Media infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.
Safety is supported with Volkswagen’s IQ.DRIVE technology and advanced driver assistance systems such as Travel Assist with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Side Assist, Front Assist, Lane Assist and Head-up Display.
The GTI has stood for sporty driving pleasure since it was first unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1975. Almost five decades and eight generations later, the GTI name continues to retain its position as one of the most loved hatchbacks around the world.
The GTI Edition 50 will be on display during the upcoming Golf Fan Fest, which will be held on the 24th of August 2024 at the North Paddock of Sepang International Circuit. It will also be available for viewing at Volkswagen dealerships from the 17th of August 2024.
