One of Subaru’s best-selling models, the XV, becomes harder to ignore now that it is updated with EyeSight.

One of Subaru’s best-selling models has become an even more compelling buy. The refreshed Subaru XV now comes with the EyeSight active safety system, something that was only available on the Forester.

The Subaru EyeSight Advanced Driver Assist Technology consists of a pair of stereo cameras for image recognition. It works as how your eyes works, hence the name. And having an extra set of eyes that does not sleep helps especially when driving outstation. The system can detect vehicles, pedestrians, bicycles and motorcycles at the same time.

Aside from EyeSight, the XV is also equipped with the new SI-Drive and Dual-Function X-MODE. With the X-MODE engaged, the XV gains the ability to drive on Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud type of conditions.

As for the SI-Drive, you can select between Sport (S) and Intelligent (I) driving modes. In Sport mode, the XV’s throttle becomes more responsive for quicker acceleration. In Intelligent, the XV favours fuel efficiency over outright pace. The new XV’s coil and dampers have been tweaked for a smoother ride.

Naturally, the new XV sports a new front bumper and grille, with redesigned 17-inch wheels to complete the vehicle’s refreshed look. Inside, the driver’s seat is upgraded to an eight-way power-adjustable seat with memory function.

The XV also comes in GT guise. Created with close collaboration with Giken Co. and Mr Masahiko ‘Jack’ Kobayashi, the GT looks more aggressive than the previous model. The redesigned front under the spoiler complements the additional garnishes on the rear.

Price for the XV 2.0i-P EyeSight starts from RM139,788 while the XV GT 2.0i-P EyeSight GT Edition begins at RM146,788.

If there’s ever a time to jump in and get the Subaru XV, it is now.
