Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has officially launched the latest iteration of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, introducing a sophisticated sedan with an updated electronic architecture designed for a more intuitive digital user experience.
Timeless Exterior with Classic Proportions
The new E-Class maintains the traditional proportions of a classic three-box sedan, featuring a short front overhang, a long bonnet, and an extended wheelbase of nearly three centimeters (2961 millimeters). This “cab-backward” design creates ample space for passengers, while a well-balanced rear overhang enhances the sleek profile.
A black panel-like surface seamlessly connects the radiator grille to the headlamps, giving the car a refined and modern appearance. The side view reveals flowing proportions and the “cab-backward” aesthetic, complemented by flush-fitting door handles that automatically extend upon approach. The E 350 e’s AMG Line exterior further emphasizes the car’s sporty character with distinctive side character lines. Meanwhile, the E 200 and E 350 e models come equipped with multi-spoke alloy wheels—19-inch and 20-inch, respectively—that add to the car’s bold stance.
At the rear, the two-part LED taillights sport a new contour and feature a signature star motif, creating a striking light pattern that stands out both day and night. The rear design is further enhanced by a chrome trim bar and a v-shaped boot lid.
The front of the E-Class also combines tradition with modernity. The grille, framed by chrome surrounds and featuring a single louvre and a chrome star, connects to the headlamps via a smooth black panel. The E 200 includes high-performance LED headlamps, while the E 350 e comes equipped with the cutting-edge DIGITAL LIGHT technology, maintaining the recognizable Mercedes-Benz “eyebrow” shaped daytime running lights.
The E 350 e also offers a panoramic sliding sunroof, allowing natural light to flood the cabin and elevating the luxury experience.
Advanced Lighting Technology
The E 200 features Adaptive High Beam Assist, while the E 350 e is fitted with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus through its DIGITAL LIGHT system. Each headlamp uses three powerful LEDs that are directed by 1.3 million micro-mirrors, ensuring precise light distribution and maximum visibility. The system can adjust light intensity and direction to avoid blinding oncoming traffic or overly illuminating road signs.
Immersive Digital Interior
The highlight of the E 350 e’s interior is the MBUX Superscreen, a vast digital interface that stretches across the dashboard, integrating a 14.4-inch central display and a 12.3-inch driver display. This modern setup creates a sleek look, with air vents blending seamlessly into the dashboard design. The E 200 offers a sophisticated ambiance with a black ash wood trim, while both models include ambient lighting, creating a welcoming and spacious feel inside the cabin.
The center console is thoughtfully integrated into the dashboard design, with storage compartments, cup holders, and a padded armrest, complete with USB ports. The doors echo the high-tech look with floating control arrays and metallic elements for the power windows and seat controls.
Both the E 200 and E 350 e offer premium seating options. The E 200 features ARTICO man-made leather, while the E 350 e offers leather upholstery with longitudinal fluting, as well as ventilated and heated front seats for added comfort.
New Generation MBUX System
The latest generation of the MBUX system, available in both the E 200 and E 350 e, is more intelligent and intuitive than ever before. With a more software-driven architecture, the new MBUX enhances system performance, and all digital displays are now powered by a central onboard computer for faster data transmission and smoother operation.
The E 200 includes the MBUX multimedia system Premium, while the E 350 e comes with the Premium Plus system, which includes a dedicated passenger display. The E 350 e also debuts a 3D driver display, offering a realistic depth effect for enhanced visibility.
Convenient AI-Powered Routines
Mercedes-Benz is integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the E-Class to learn driver habits and automate everyday tasks. The AI system can recognize routines, such as lowering a window at the office gate or activating seat ventilation after a workout, and carry out these functions automatically. The MBUX system also makes personalized suggestions based on user preferences, improving both convenience and comfort.
Safety and Distraction-Reduction Features
The intelligent image-filtering system ensures that if the front passenger seat is unoccupied, the passenger display becomes a decorative screen. If the driver glances at the passenger screen, the brightness is automatically reduced to minimize distraction, allowing the passenger to continue viewing content.
Efficient Powertrains
Under the hood, both variants come with electrified engines. The E 200 features a mild-hybrid system with an integrated starter-generator (ISG) for improved efficiency, while the E 350 e is a plug-in hybrid that delivers 95kW of electric power and up to 118 kilometers of all-electric range. With a total system output of 230kW (313hp), the E 350 e offers dynamic driving performance, while the energy recovery system allows for efficient energy recuperation during deceleration or downhill driving.
The E 350 e’s high-voltage battery, developed in-house by Mercedes-Benz, has a capacity of 25.4kWh, with 19.5kWh available for electric operation. The battery can be fully charged in just 30 minutes using a 55kW DC charger.
With its perfect blend of luxury, advanced technology, and efficient hybrid powertrains, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class sets a new benchmark in the business sedan segment.
