Mercedes-Benz Malaysia recently introduced the new Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 4MATIC as part of its Luxury Showcase, which includes the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC, the Mercedes-AMG GT S 63 E PERFORMANCE and the Mercedes-Benz CLE 300 4MATIC Coupe. Dubbed the ‘S-Class among SUVs‘, the new GLS 450 4MATIC feature refreshed exterior and interior design, new telematics and drive system.
The GLS can be recognised by the even more striking radiator grille. The four louvres are galvanised in high-quality Silver Shadow. The bumper is also visually more prominent. It features integrated air inlet grilles, combined with a surround in high-gloss black. The large simulated underguard has also been redesigned.
New paint finishes such as Sodalite Blue Metallic and MANUFAKTUR Alpine Grey Solid are available as options. The AMG Line exterior of the vehicle also features 22-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels and aluminium-look, illuminated running boards with rubber studs.
Animated Projection with pattern provides illumination of the exit area on the front doors with animated projection of the Mercedes-Benz pattern. The adaptive MULTIBEAM LED headlights illuminate the road for the driver according to the situation thanks to intelligent light functions.
The headlamps react to the current traffic situation with the help of individually controllable LEDs. Included as well are the AIRMATIC Package, MAGIC VISION CONTROL, power closing, and the GUARD 360° which provides all-round monitoring of the vehicle environment.
The updated generation of the of the infotainment system MBUX brings with it a new look for the displays. The displays can be individualised with the help of three different styles (classic, sporty, discreet) and three modes (Navigation, Assistance, Service). The vehicle also comes with MBUX High-End Rear Seat Entertainment System. With 2 fully integrated, 11.6-inch touch displays, passengers can experience the best entertainment in the rear even while driving. Thanks to the connection to the MBUX multimedia system, passengers can enjoy films in brilliant picture quality or surf the Internet.
The Widescreen Cockpit brings the instrument display and media display together in what is perceived as a single unit. The two fully digital colour displays are combined beneath a joint glass cover and blend harmoniously into the interior design as a continuous surface. The Widescreen Cockpit comes in 7 contexts, Understated, Sport, Classic, Navigation, Assistance, Offroad and Service. The brown open-pore walnut wood trim blends in harmoniously with the interior while also creating exciting contrasts.
The new GLS is equipped with multifunction sports steering wheel in nappa leather, rough leather / leather black upholstery, and dashboard and door beltlines in ARTICO man-made leather. The multicontour front seats offer active cushions, hot stone massage effect, seat heating plus, and seat ventilation. In addition, the vehicle comes with ENERGIZING AIR CONTROL and Driving Assistance Package.
Rear passengers are treated to comfortable multicontour rear seats with massage function and lumbar support. The massage function offers targeted relaxation, and the ergonomically mouldable backrest contour promotes a healthy posture.
The Rear Comfort Package Plus provides extensive connectivity and more comfort in the rear, including luxury head restraints, MBUX rear seat tablet and wireless charging system for mobile devices. With the Exclusive trim Package, additional trim elements are featured on the backs of the front seat backrests and map pockets for an even more exclusive ambience. Also included are 2 USB slots in the rear with 100W charging and THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control in the rear.
Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC helps you with reversing into a parking space and assists with steering, accelerating, braking, and changing gear. The “Off-Road Mode” in the current MBUX generation turns special content such as gradient, lateral inclination, compass, and steering angle into a visual experience.
Thanks to the Parking Package with 360-degree camera, it offers the “transparent bonnet” function. When the Offroad mode is active, the central display shows a virtual view under the front of the vehicle. The view is composed of the images from the 360°camera. With the “transparent bonnet”, obstacles such as large stones or deep potholes on the route ahead can be better recognised.
The Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 4MATIC is priced at RM999,888 on the road without insurance. Powered by a 3.0-litre engine that generates 381hp and 500Nm of torque, The GLS 450 4MATIC blends power and class that not many can attain.
