The new BMW M340i xDrive M Sport is the powerhouse of the 3 Series, not counting the M3 because that’s in an entirely different universe. This sports sedan represents the best that BMW has to offer in terms of power, performance and luxury.
The BMW M340i xDrive M Sport draws power from a straight-six petrol engine that presents 387hp and 500Nm. With an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission shoving power to all four wheels, the M340i launched from 0-100kph in 4.4 seconds up to a capped top speed of 250kph. The sportiest 3er is equipped with the M Sport Differential, Adaptive M Suspension and Variable Sport Steering.
Distinctive hexagonal kidney grilles, flanked by Adaptive LED headlights with Highbeam Assistant flags off the M340i’s performance styling. The BMW M340i xDrive M Sport features M exterior mirrors, 19-inch M Light Alloy Wheels in Double-Spoke Style 91 M Bicolour, alongside M Sport Brakes in Blue High-Gloss. At the rear, the performance 3er can be distinguished by its M Rear-Spoiler free-form design exhaust tips. As standard, the new BMW M340i xDrive comes equipped with the M Aerodynamics Package and M High-Gloss Shadowline.
The M Sport Pro variant is also available for the New BMW M340i xDrive, adding exterior features that emphasise the vehicle’s dynamic appearance. These include 19-inch M Light Alloy Wheels in Double-Spoke Style 792 M Bicolour Jet Black, M lights Shadowline, M Sport brake callipers in High-Gloss Red, M High-gloss Shadow Line with extended contents, including kidney grille frame and slats in High-Gloss Black and M Rear Spoiler in Black Sapphire.
The New BMW M340i xDrive arrives with sports seats for both the driver and front passenger, with the driver’s seat further enhanced with electric seat adjustment with memory function. Also equipped as standard are the hand-stitched M Leather Steering Wheel in supple Walknappa leather, M Headliner Anthracite and Aluminium Rhombicle Anthracite M Interior Trim.
For added convenience and comfort, the Storage Compartment Package, automatic air conditioning, ambient light, interior rear-view mirror with automatic anti-dazzle function and electric glass roof have been included as standard. Finally, in-car entertainment is provided by the unmatched audio quality of the Harman Kardon Surround Sound system. Optionally, the M Sport package Pro for the all-wheel drive sedan further adds iconic M colour-lined M seat belts.
Comfort Access, Remote Software Update and BMW ID all come as standard digital features for the New BMW M340i xDrive. Also included is the Connected Package Professional, which is inclusive of a comprehensive range of digital services, such as Remote Services as well as Smartphone Integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other connectivity features for both variants include Intelligent Emergency Call, Teleservices and ConnectedDrive Services.
With state-of-the-art driver assistance systems, the journey on the road to the intended destination is made easier. The Parking Assistant and Driving Assistant come as standard for the new BMW M340i xDrive. The camera- and ultrasound-based Parking Assistant is inclusive of Park Assist, Active Park Distance Control (PDC), Lateral Parking Aid and Reversing Assist Camera. The Reversing Assistant is designed to keep a record of up to the last 50 metres driven forward and can drive back the exact same way in reverse if desired.
As for the camera- and radar-based Driving Assistant, the standard features are the Lane Departure Warning with active steering interventions, Lane Change Warning, Front Collision Warning with brake intervention, Rear Crossing Warning with brake intervention, Rear Crossing Traffic Warning, Rear Collision Warning, Speed Limit Info and manual Speed Limit Assist. Additionally, Cruise Control with Braking Function is available as standard for both variants.
Exterior colour options for the new BMW M340i xDrive include Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Melbourne Red, M Portimao Blue, M Brooklyn Grey and Skyscraper Grey, while interior upholstery is available in Leather Vernasca in either Black or Mocha.
Meanwhile, for the New BMW M340i xDrive M Sport Pro, the exterior colour options are Alpine White, Black Sapphire, M Brooklyn Grey and M Portimau Blue, while interior upholstery comes in Leather Vernasca in Black or Tacora Red.
The New BMW M340i xDrive M Sport Pro will be available exclusively online with a pre-booking fee of RM3,000. Deliveries can be expected to commence in August 2023. The retail price for the BMW M340i xDrive is RM391,800.00 and the M340i xDrive M Sport Pro will cost you RM396,800.00. Financing is available through the BMW Easy Drive Financing Plan from BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia. The monthly instalment plan for the BMW M340i xDrive starts at RM4,281.00 and the BMW M340i xDrive M Sport Pro starts at RM4,336.00; both calculated with an 80 per cent loan on a 5-year tenure.
Although half the price of the M3, the M340i xDrive should still be full of white-knuckled driving excitement. But if you want a more comfortable ride, the also-launched BMW 330Li M Sport is available.
