By now, the entire Malaysian population should know what a Perodua Myvi is, given its popularity across the nation. So it comes as no surprise that 4,303 bookings have been made within nine days with the first units driven off the showroom floor the next day.
To put things into context, the 277,329 third-generation Myvis have been sold since launch. If you take into account the first generation Myvis, then the total has breached the 1.3 million mark.
The launch of the new Myvi coincides with the introduction of two new variants, bringing up the total to five. The variants include the 1.5-litre AV (Advance Variant), 1.5-litre H variant, 1.5-litre X variant and two 1.3-litre G variants.
The facelift Myvi refreshes the hatchback’s design. You’ll notice that the grille, front bumper and rear bumper are sporting new designs. In addition, the round fog lamps have been replaced by thin LEDs that run vertically at both sides of the hatchback.
New to the facelift Myvi include a safety system upgrade, called Perodua Smart Drive Assist (PSDA) that considers the pedestrian as well. Under the PSDA umbrella are the Advance Safety Assist (ASA), Driving Assist, Parking Assist and Head Lamp Assist. Only the AV variant gets to enjoy the full PSDA suite, qualifying it as a car with Autonomous Level 2 technology.
Perodua is also retiring the four-speed transmission from the Myvi, replacing it with the Dual Mode CVT. The new transmission is said to improve fuel efficiency by 5 per cent, or an additional 1km per litre. The hatchback also boasts of an acceleration improvement of 20 per cent.
As the top-line variant, the Myvi AV gets its own exclusive colour, Cranberry Red. However, this means that the Lava Red will not be available for the Myvi AV. Lava Red, as well as Ivory White, Glittering Silver, Granite Grey and Electric Blue, are available for the rest of the range.
Perodua expects to register 6,000 units monthly. The new Myvi starts its pricing at RM45,700 for the 1.3G (without PSDA) and RM47,700 for the 1.3G. The 1.5-litre Myvi starts its price at RM49,900 for the 1.5 X, RM53,900 for the 1.5 H and RM58,800 1.5 AV. The prices mentioned here are without insurance and exclude Sales Tax.
You know this new Myvi will be another best seller for Perodua.
