The Kia EV9 has just been launched, adding one more EV in Kia Malaysia’s range of battery electric vehicles. The Kia EV9 is Kia’s first dedicated three-row flagship SUV build on Kia’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). It comes in a seven-seater and six-seater versions.
The Kia EV9 arrives with plenty of medals around its neck with recent wins from the 2024 World Car Awards. The SUV EV has also won the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2024 under the category ‘Best of the Best Award in Cars and Motorcycle’.
The EV9’s bold styling, sophisticated elegance and confident visual presence is inspired by Kia’s “Opposites United” design philosophy. The EV9 re-envisions the all-electric SUV with a unique balance of natural and modern elements.
SOPHISTICATED YET FUTURISTIC EXTERIOR
The front of the EV9 exudes confidence with its clear-cut lines and surfaces. Its signature “Digital Tiger Face” showcases its unique identity, accentuating the “Digital Pattern Lighting Grille” that adds an element of dynamism and sophistication, while its vertical headlamps give the EV9 a visionary and futuristic appearance. Its Digital Tiger Face features two clusters of small cube lamps adjacent to each headlamp.
The EV9’s rear, its “Star Map” LED daytime running lights (DRL) taillights that creates a sophisticated animated lighting pattern that gives the vehicle an instant recognisable look.
The EV9 GT-line model design features a unique aesthetic that distinguishes its front and rear bumpers, wheels and roof rack which have undergone a transformation that features a distinctive black colour palette.
The side profile of the EV9, its modernistic angular profile presents a simple but distinctive outline that is deeply rooted in the “Bold for Nature” design pillar, which inspires the combination of elements from natural and material worlds, played a significant role in forming the vehicle. A low gravity side body creates maximum and instant impact with the sharp crystal-like inspired fender volumes that sit high up on the vehicle.
The EV9 features a 3,100mm wheelbase, supported by 21-inch Alloy wheels. With an overall length of 5,010mm, standing 1,980mm wide and 1,755mm tall, the EV9 displays a bold and contemporary appearance while maintaining its unique character.
FLAT EV ARCHITECTURE GIVES INTERIOR SPACE
Its long wheelbase, low beltline and flat electric vehicle architecture are the key elements that contribute to the generous space within the EV9. Available in two seating configurations which is the six-seat and seven-seat configuration, offers to accommodate different passenger needs. Occupants sitting in the first and second-row seats can simultaneously recline their seats, adds a touch of luxury and comfort, akin to a lounge-style experience.
Besides its spacious, light and airy cabin, the EV9 embodies an elegantly simple, premium quality and user-friendly design created using recycled materials. Its floating panoramic dashboard extends from the steering wheel to the centre of the vehicle.

The EV9 is equipped with impressive technology that enhances safety, connectivity, and infotainment, designed to make travel safer, easier, and smoother. Its infotainment features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a fast Wireless Smartphone charger, and USB-C ports for charging, while the second and third rows also feature USB-C chargers. Ambient mood lights are applied at the front and rear armrests and top of the map pocket, providing different lighting functions.

FLAT BATTERY OFFERS PEAK POWER
Built on Kia’s cutting-edge Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV9 is the second Kia model based on this platform and the first to feature fourth-generation battery technology designed for improved energy density. The EV9’s powertrain is powered by a high-voltage battery pack of 99.8 kWh, paired with dual electric motors that power the front and rear axles.
The AWD EV9 can travel up to 505 kilometres* on a single charge, with a maximum of 700 Nm of torque and producing 380 horsepower. This advanced technology ensures a thrilling and sustainable driving experience.
In addition, the flexibility of its Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) charging system enables the vehicle-to-load (V2L) function, which is capable of discharging energy from the vehicle battery. The V2L function can supply up to 3.6 kWh of power and is capable of operating lifestyle electronic accessories.
COMPREHENSIVE SAFETY SYSTEMS
In terms of safety, the Kia EV9 is equipped with both standard and advanced safety features. The standard safety features of the EV9 include 10 SRS airbags (Front Driver & Passenger, Driver Knee, Side, Curtain and Centre Side), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Safe Exit Assist (SEA) system which automatically provides a warning and locks the door if an approaching vehicle from the rear side is detected within the blind spot.
Traction Control System (TCS), Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Rear Occupant Alert (ROA), ISOFIX Child Restraint Anchor Points and Top Tethers as well as Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) also comes as standard.
As for the Advanced Safety Features, the EV6 comes equipped with High Beam Assist (HBA), Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (PCA), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Assist (RCCA), which detects oncoming vehicles approaching from either side when reversing out of a tight parking spot. In addition, there is also the Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) and Driver Attention Warning (DAW).
For the EV9, the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA2) includes with Junction Turning (JT), Junction Crossing (JX), Lane-Change Oncoming (LCO), Direct Oncoming (DO), Lane-Change Side (LCS), Driving Steering Assist (DSA) and Auto Evasive Steering Assist (ESA), which provides preventive safety when navigating through junctions. Completing the Advanced Driver Assisted System features are the Lane Following Assist (LFA2) and Smart Cruise Control (SCC).

The all-new Kia EV9 is currently CBU from South Korea. The colour line-up includes Ocean Blue, Snow White Pearl, Pebble Gray, Aurora Black Pearl and Iceberg Green, making a total of 5 colors available.
With a starting price of RM 369,668.00 on-the-road without insurance, the Kia EV9 is now officially open for booking, and customers can pre-order the vehicle at the nearest Kia showrooms. The vehicle comes with a 5 years manufacturer warranty (or first 150,000km), whichever comes first.
