BMW X5 xDrive50e M Sport CKD

The ever-popular BMW X5 eDrive50e M Sport is due for a mid-life refresh and this is what it will look like. The plug-in hybrid SUV, or SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) in BMW-speak, will be locally assembled and kitted with the M Sport package as standard. And yes, the new X5 will be a marked upgrade from the current model.

The new BMW X5 xDrive50e M Sport comes with a more powerful PHEV powertrain that delivers a combined output of 489hp – an impressive 96hp more than its predecessor, and an upgraded 700Nm of torque. The combined output of the 3.0-litre straight-six petrol engine and its powerful electric motor allows the new SUV to achieve the century sprint in 4.8 seconds. The electric capabilities of the PHEV also receive a boost, giving it an electric range of up to 110km (WLTP) alongside an enhanced 7.4kW of charging, allowing it to go from a 0-100% charge in just 4.5 hours.

The ambient Light Bar with crystalline surface structure and Harman Kardon Surround sound system are also included as standard. The centre console in the new SUV now also boasts a restructured layout and additional touch-sensitive function keys, with gear changes now executed using a rocker switch.

Added standard features to the SUV include BMW Comfort Access, Driving Assistant Professional, and Parking Assistant Professional, alongside the exterior colours of Black Sapphire, Manhattan, Mineral White, and Skyscraper Grey as well as the “Merino” interior upholstery, a member of the BMW Individual Extended Leather family, which comes in two distinct colour options – Black and Tartufo, both of which embody the new BMW X5 xDrive50e M Sport’s promise of athletic sophistication and modern luxury.
