Porsche purists might find this a tough pill to swallow but electrifying the iconic 911 964 might be the only way to save it. Or, as Everrati Automotive calls it — future-proofing automotive icons. The restored 911 with a ‘Signature wide body and integrated with the very latest EV powertrains.

The result is a Porsche 911 964 that produces 500hp and 500Nm, allowing the EV to complete the 0-100kph spring in less than 4.0 seconds. The electric propulsion system gets energy from a 53kWh battery pack. The car has a range of over 150 miles (241km), depending on driving style. Charging the battery with a DC fast charger replenishes the battery pack, going from 10 to 100 per cent in less than 60 minutes.

Power is nothing without control

It is not just about power, the ‘Signature’ wide body also has its handling upgraded. The Porsche’s aluminium rear trailing suspension arms are refurbished to new with its bushes and drop-links fully uprated. Customers can choose from two suspension packages. The ‘standard’ suspension features fully adjustable motorsport-grade coil-over spring & damper units. It provides a compliant, quiet and comfortable ride on the road while still offering superb control during more dynamic driving.

The optional, fully adjustable suspension package features adaptive dampers by Tractive, providing even more sports-focussed levels of control and driver feedback. It features a fully programmable and customisable five-driver-mode set-up, controlled from within the cockpit via a touch screen.

Being an EV, the Everrati features regenerative braking when the driver lifts off the accelerator pedal. One-pedal driving is possible when the driver adjusts the level of regenerative braking force. All around the car are uprated mechanical braking system that features renewed Brembo Porsche callipers. The discs are newly drilled and ventilated. Larger Brembo callipers for the front and rear are optional for more stopping power. A selection of 17-inch and 18-inch wheels, and colour finishes, are available at customers requirements.

Still looks like a classic

Although the powertrain, braking and chassis have been future-proofed, the shape of the car must be finished to Concours standards. The ‘Signature’ wide body starts with a solid, accident-free Porsche 911 964. The first stage of the car’s metamorphosis was a careful disassembly to its bare monocoque chassis. All bodywork, powertrain and interior components were removed from the car.

Following a complete strip-down, the monocoque chassis is water-blasted back to its bare zinc coating and inspected and treated for rust prevention, if required. To ensure adherence to Everrati’s core pillars of safety and structural integrity, the monocoque is seam-welded, strengthened and refabricated to better-than-new standards.

To create the wide body, Everrati replaces the steel front and rear wings and bonnet with custom-produced carbon fibre parts. The same material is also used for the doors, although these are reinforced with high strength steel to retain side impact protection.

A carbon fibre roof is offered, along with the choice of a steel item for customers who wish to retain a sunroof. The front and rear bumpers are refitted with genuine Porsche wide body items, to which RS Cup air vents are added.

The result of the weight-saving measures has made the ‘Signature’ wide body weigh less than the original 911 964.

Old world interior meets new century tech

Customers can select from a wide range of materials and fittings to personalise the cabin. Original Porsche seats, which replicate the original RS Touring Seats, are re-installed and enhanced for comfort. All seats have four-way electrical adjustment and manual recline and tilt functions.

Optional Carbon RS seats provide an even more sporting ambience. Upholstery can be optioned in leather, Alcantara, or other materials and in a wide choice of colours and optional finishes and textures.

The Porsche Classic Communications Management finds its way here. The system offers full touchscreen navigation, DAB+, Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay. All of the car’s traditional gauges are replaced with Porsche-inspired EV gauges. The original gauges can be retained for the customer on request.

Prices to transform the Porsche 911 964 into a ‘Signature’ wide body EV sports car starts from GBP250,000. And you have the supply your own car for the future-proofing. Or will you be keeping yours original?
